Three ways to stop what Courier is doing, with three different effects: pause is the lightest, signing out the most complete.
Pause sync
Section titled “Pause sync”Settings → Courier → Sync → Pause sync, or the same row in the status-bar menu.
Only this device stops; your other devices keep syncing with the server. Nothing is lost: local edits wait here and a resume catches up in both directions. The vault stays connected and a remembered vault password stays remembered, so resuming normally asks for nothing.
Disconnect
Section titled “Disconnect”Settings → Courier → Remote vault → Disconnect.
This device lets go of the remote vault and forgets the saved vault password. The files stay on this device and on the server. To come back, choose the remote vault again and enter the password once.
Sign out
Section titled “Sign out”Settings → Courier → Account → Sign out.
This device forgets the user key and the connection. Files here and on the server are unchanged. Signing back in needs the server address and the key again.
The device name
Section titled “The device name”Settings → Courier → This device → Device name. It is only a label on the rows of the connected vault’s sync history — it is how you tell your devices apart there. Each remote vault keeps its own, a change shows on the rows written after it, and nothing is registered on the server.
When a key runs out
Section titled “When a key runs out”If the user key expires or is disabled, syncing pauses by itself and the status bar says so. Ask the administrator to renew it, then click Resume sync — there is nothing to enter again.
